Gordon Ommen—Non-Executive Chairman
Gordon Ommen serves as non-executive chairman of VeraSun Energy, a global leader in the production of biofuels. VeraSun Energy trades on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol VSE. Prior to assuming the leadership of the VeraSun board of directors, he served as chief executive officer and president of US BioEnergy, a role Mr. Ommen held until it was acquired by VeraSun in April 2008. Mr. Ommen has more than 25 years of experience in banking, investing, building and managing successful businesses. He began his executive career in 1989 as president, chief executive officer and director of Coastal Virginia Bank in Virginia Beach. Three years later he was named to a similar role with Fishback Financial Corporation, a multi-bank holding company located in Brookings, S.D. In 1997, he took on additional duties as president and director of First National Venture Capital, a venture capital subsidiary of First National Bank, a bank located in Brookings, S.D. In 2003, Mr. Ommen founded Capitaline Advisors LLC, a private equity investment management firm specializing in renewable energy investments and one of the principal shareholders of US BioEnergy. In 2004, Mr. Ommen, Capitaline and a group of investors launched US BioEnergy. Among their first acquisitions were corn ethanol plants located in Central City, Neb. and Woodbury, Mich. In December 2006, US BioEnergy launched a successful IPO trading on the NASDAQ Global Market. By the time US BioEnergy was acquired by VeraSun, it had grown to a fleet of five operating plants producing 420 million gallons of ethanol a year. Mr. Ommen was named a finalist for the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year award in 2007. He holds both a bachelor's and a master's degree in economics from South Dakota State University, where he has served as an adjunct professor of Economics. |

James Dauwalter
James Dauwalter has been a director since April 2008. Prior to joining the VeraSun Energy board, he served as chairman of the US BioEnergy board of directors. Mr. Dauwalter has more than 35 years experience in the technology industry. Most recently he served as chief executive officer of Entegris Inc., a materials integrity management company. He first joined Entegris (then known as Fluoroware) in 1972 and held a variety of positions until his first executive appointment in March 2000 as chief operating officer. Now retired from Entegris, Mr. Dauwalter continues as its non-executive chairman of the board. He presently serves on the board of the Community Bank of Chaska (Minnesota) and the Semiconductor Equipment and Materials International North American Advisory Board. Mr. Dauwalter earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from Bemidji State University. |

Jay Debertin
Jay Debertin has been a director since April 2008. Prior to joining the VeraSun Energy board, he served on the US BioEnergy board. Mr. Debertin brings almost 25 years of experience in the agri-business and energy industries. He is executive vice president and chief operating officer of Processing at CHS Inc., a diversified energy, grains and food company, based in St. Paul, Minn. He joined CHS in 1984 in its petroleum division and has held a variety of positions in its energy marketing operations. Mr. Debertin was promoted to vice president, Crude Oil Supply, in 1998, and added responsibilities for refining, pipelines and terminal, trading and risk management, and transportation in 2001. In his present role, he oversees the company's oil seed processing, joint venture relationships, and strategic direction in renewable fuels. Mr. Debertin earned a bachelor's degree in Economics from the University of North Dakota and a master's degree in business administration from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He presently serves on the boards of directors of the National Cooperative Refinery Association, Horizon Milling LLC, and Ventura Foods LLC. |

Don Endres
Don Endres serves as Chief Executive Officer of VeraSun Energy Corporation, the leading producer of renewable fuels in the US. As head of VeraSun, which is listed on the New York Stock Exchange, Mr. Endres draws on more than 20 years of experience in building, operating and managing successful businesses. In 1985, he founded Special Teams, Inc. During his tenure as President and General Manager, Special Teams was recognized by Inc. Magazine as one of the fastest growing privately held companies in the U.S. in both 1994 and 1995. After Special Teams was sold to American Express in 1995, Mr. Endres assumed the role of President of American Express Special Teams. In 1999, Mr. Endres became a principal investor and Board member of CoEv, Inc., a manufacturer of electronic equipment. CoEv, which turned profitable within its first year of operations, later merged with Tyco International Ltd. In 1998, Mr. Endres co-founded and served as CEO of ExpressGold.com, Inc., an Internet payment company, and successfully spearheaded its merger with CyberSource Corporation. In addition to his role at VeraSun, Mr. Endres has a long history of making valuable contributions to the alternative energy industry at large, and continues to actively participate in the growth of this sector. Today, he serves on the Board of Directors and Executive Committees of the Renewable Fuels Association (RFA), Alternative Fuel Institute (AFI), and the Enterprise Institute at South Dakota State University. Previously he served as co-founder and Vice-Chairman of Glacial Lakes Energy, an ethanol production facility in Watertown, South Dakota; and was an investor and Board Officer for Badger State Ethanol LLC in Monroe, Wisconsin. In 2000, Mr. Endres was named "Entrepreneur of the Year" by South Dakota State University's College of Engineering and in 2005 was awarded the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Award for "Emerging Entrepreneur." Mr. Endres holds a bachelor of science degree in animal science, with minors in computer science and economics, from South Dakota State University. |

Duane Gilliam
DuaneGilliam brings with him 38 years experience in the petroleum industry. Mr. Gilliam joined Ashland Inc. in 1967 as a process engineer and was promoted to manager of Oil Movements and Economics in 1972. Since that time he has held a number of positions of increasing responsibility. In 1984, he was named executive assistant, director and vice president of Administration for Scurlock Oil Company in Houston. In 1991, he was named president of the new combined Scurlock Permian Corporation. He assumed responsibility as group vice president of Ashland Petroleum Company's Crude Oil Supply & Transportation in October 1992. In 1993, Mr. Gilliam served as executive vice president, Petroleum Operations and, thereafter, as senior vice president for Ashland Inc. and president of Ashland Petroleum Company before accepting the position of executive vice president in January 1998 with Marathon Ashland Petroleum LLC, headquartered in Findlay, OH. In January 2001, he was named as executive vice president, corporate affairs. Mr. Gilliam is a member of the 25 Year Club of the Petroleum Industry. He is a member and director of the American Petroleum Institute and serves on the organization's Downstream Committee. Mr. Gilliam is chairman of the Board of Directors, Executive Committee and Issues Committee of the National Petrochemical & Refiners Association (NPRA). He serves as chairman on the Owner Representatives Board of LOOP LLC. Mr. Gilliam also serves on the Board of Directors and Compensation Committee of Colonial Pipeline Company. Mr. Gilliam is a graduate of the University of Kentucky. He is a Registered Professional Engineer in Kentucky, Louisiana and Texas. He is a graduate of Harvard University's Advanced Management Program. Mr. Gilliam has been selected as a 2003 inductee into the University of Kentucky Engineering Hall of Distinction. |

Jack Huggins
Jack Huggins is founder and president of TJ3, Inc., a business development consulting firm that focuses on the ethanol industry. Mr. Huggins graduated from Yale University with a BS in Chemical Engineering and holds an MS in Business Administration from Pace University. He has 25 years with Corn Products and CPC International in a variety of management positions, including Vice President of Finance, Vice President of Business Management and Planning, and Vice President and Executive Assistant to the President within the Corn Products Division. Mr. Huggins moved to Pekin Energy Company in 1986, at that time the second largest producer and marketer of ethanol in the U.S. He became its President and CEO in 1990. In 1995, when the Williams Companies, Inc., purchased Pekin Energy, Mr. Huggins became President of Williams Ethanol, President of Nebraska Energy, L.L.C., and Vice President of Williams Energy. Mr. Huggins also held the position of Chair of the Renewable Fuels Association for three years in the early 1990's. Mr. Huggins presently serves on several boards of directors, including Heartland Water Resource Council, Excel Foundry and Machine, Inc., the Board of Governors for Illinois State University, and the Illinois Chapter of The Nature Conservancy. He has also served on the Illinois Water Resources and Land Use Priorities Task Force and the Federal Fleet Conversion Task Force. |

Steven Kirby
Steven Kirby has been a director since January 2006. Mr. Kirby is a founding partner of Bluestem Capital Company. Mr. Kirby was secretary and senior claims counsel for Western Surety Company, a national surety bond company, from 1977 to 1992. He was the 35th Lieutenant Governor of the State of South Dakota from 1993 through 1995. Mr. Kirby was also a candidate for Governor of South Dakota in 2002. Mr. Kirby is a director of several privately owned companies and is a speaker at various entrepreneurial and college forums. Mr. Kirby is a graduate of Arizona State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in political science and a graduate of the University of South Dakota School of Law with a juris doctorate degree. |

Mark Ruelle
Mark Ruelle has been a director since April 2008. Prior to joining the VeraSun Energy board, he served on the US BioEnergy board. Mr. Ruelle has more than 20 years experience in the energy industry. He is executive vice president and chief financial officer of Westar Energy, the largest electric utility in Kansas. In that role, he oversees treasury, accounting, risk management, human resources, information technology and generation plant construction. Before Westar, Mr. Ruelle served as president of Nevada Power, a wholly owned subsidiary of Sierra Pacific Resources, a utility holding company. Prior to that, he was senior vice president and chief financial officer. Mr. Ruelle presently serves as a director of the Wolf Creek Nuclear Operating Corporation. Mr. Ruelle earned both a bachelor's and a master's degree in economics from the University of North Dakota. |

Paul Schock
Paul Schock has been a director since January 2003. Mr. Schock is the founder and President of Schock Land Company, a real estate development company. From September 2005 until February of 2007 Mr. Schock was employed with VeraSun Energy as its Vice President and then Senior Vice President of Corporate Development. He was affiliated with Bluestem Capital Company, a manager of various investment funds, from 1989 to 2004. Mr. Schock was a commercial banker and manager with First Bank Systems of Minneapolis, MN, from 1981 to 1988, and chief financial officer of American Western Corporation, a manufacturing company in Sioux Falls, SD, from 1988 to 1989. In 1989, he formed Schock Financial Services, Inc., the predecessor of Bluestem Capital Company. Mr. Schock attended Stanford University and graduated magna cum laude from Augustana College with a degree in business. |
