Community

We're excited that VeraSun chose the Hartley community. They have been a first-class group to work with. From the initial call to locating the plant site, it has been apparent they care about the community and we know the plant will have a positive impact on our entire region."
—Ken Smith
Iowa farmer and Hartley Economic Development Corporation Board Member

VeraSun recognizes the critical contribution farmers and farming communities make in supporting the ethanol industry. Without them, there would be no grains from which to produce the ethanol. We take seriously our responsibility to be good stewards to farmers and their communities.

VeraSun provides benefits to farmers and their communities by creating a significant demand on local corn production. A single 100MMGY facility creates more than $2 million in annual salaries paid to skilled employees. Local taxes generated from plant revenues feed back into the community to be used for community projects, such as schools, parks, and infrastructure improvements. These factors combine to energize the local economies of these farming communities.

VeraSun's goal is to work in harmony with the local farmers and communities and to share a sense of pride in what we achieve together.
