Nashville recording artist and Iowa native Shannon Brown increases awareness of ethanol through music

What do ethanol plants, FFVs, and country music artist Shannon Brown have in common?

All are corn-fed! And are striving to provide a cleaner, greener energy future for America.

This past summer, VeraSun partnered with Shannon Brown to raise awareness of ethanol in a way that everyone can relate to – through music. Since then, the Hartley, Iowa, native has been literally singing the praises of ethanol.

"At VeraSun, we are proud of our Midwestern values, and are committed to working with local farmers and agricultural communities to develop a cleaner, greener future for our nation," said VeraSun's Director of Marketing and Communications, Melissa Ullerich. "Shannon Brown's Midwestern roots and corn-fed image are true to those ideals."

In June 2006, Shannon performed her hit song "Corn Fed" outside of the New York Stock Exchange to help celebrate VeraSun's IPO. She also attended Major League Baseball's All-Star Game, as well as local plant and community events. Whether in the field, on the highway or in the middle of New York City – Shannon and VeraSun have been hitting the same notes.

Shannon is very active in the local community and, through her career, has been able to give back to the Midwest. She shares her time and talents with various charitable organizations, including The Charley Foundation, WARM2Kids, Scholarship America and Families of Freedom.

"I am very happy to be partnering with VeraSun as home-grown renewable energy sources is a subject I am passionate about. I believe it is important that we get the message out on renewable fuels and the benefits they bring to the environment," said Shannon Brown. "Plus, I myself am a product of the Heartland, corn-fed just like ethanol. This is a way that I can support the community that made me who I am while contributing to our country's future."
